ATRP Precinct Committeepersons

Join the Republican Precinct Committeeperson (PC) Team!

Did you know that about half of all precincts have no representation? Are you frustrated with the way things are going in McHenry County? As a Republican Precinct Committeeperson (PC), you have the opportunity to play a leadership role in promoting Conservative values in your own neighborhood.

Are you ready to help keep McHenry RED? The PC has the power to make REAL changes in our county. PC's share Conservative and Patriot candidate information, and local issues with their friends and neighbors in their precinct to further our causes.

A Precinct Committeeperson is a unpaid volunteer position that provides valuable information to voters in their precinct (neighborhoods). You can be elected or appointed to serve in a Algonquin Township precinct.

Becoming a Precinct Committeeperson is straightforward. These positions are typically uncontested, and if your precinct already has a PC, you can be appointed to a nearby precinct. To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and a registered voter in the precinct where you seek election. For appointed committeepersons, the same requirements apply, except you don’t need to reside in the precinct to which you’re appointed.

Role of a Precinct Committeeperson

  • Elected leader of their political party in a specific voting precinct

  • Serve a 2-year term, elected during party primary (even-numbered years) or serves remainder of existing term

  • Represent party voters within their precinct

  • Keep neighbors informed about local policy issues and events

  • Contact and inform voters with election information

  • Recruit and mobilize voters for elections (local, state, and national)

  • Help Register New Voters (Illinois Online Voter Registration)

  • Participate in Early Voting Phone Banking (Talking on the Phone with Voters)

  • Be a Poll watcher-A poll watcher is legally in the polling place to observe the conduct of the election

  • Organize grassroots outreach, such as block walking, phone banking, and events

  • Recruit poll workers (election judges and clerks) for Election Day

  • Member of the Republican State Central Committee

Your goals as a Precinct Committeeperson is to: deliver the maximum number of Republican votes in your precinct. PC's represent the heart of any GOP grassroots effort, ensuring that our values resonate with voters at the local level.

Join us in making a difference and championing Republican ideals in your community!"

Remember, your involvement matters, and together we can strengthen our party’s foundation.
