The Algonquin Township Republican Organization (ATRO) is the governing body of the Republican Party in Algonquin Township. The Algonquin Township Republican Committee is an integral, but independent, part of the National Republican Party and the Illinois Republican Party. The Algonquin Township Republican Committee has the authority to take all appropriate action to promote the principles and the programs of the Republican Party in Algonquin Township and to help elect Republican candidates at all levels of government.

The organization is legally designated as the “Algonquin Township Republican Central Committee, (ATRCC)” but may also be known as the “Algonquin Township Republican Organization (ATRO)” for informal purposes.

Defend Freedom and Liberty

ATRO's mission is to promote and defend freedom and liberty for all. We believe that every individual has the right to live in a society where they can enjoy these fundamental rights. We strive to empower local citizens to be engaged and effective activists for the cause of freedom and liberty. We use disciplined strategies to motivate volunteers and support conservative and freedom-loving candidates. 

We Aim to:

  • Educate, motivate, and equip local citizens to be engaged and effective activists for the cause of freedom and liberty

  • Support conservative and freedom-loving candidates in their campaigns for local, state, and federal offices to ensure that the U.S. Constitution is revered and remains the law of the land with equal justice for all persons

A Proud History

OUR FOUNDING FATHERS: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..." Declaration of Independence, 1776

The Republican Party was founded in 1854, by anti-slavery expansion activists. The early Republican Party consisted of northern Protestants, factory workers, professionals, businessmen, prosperous farmers, and after the Civil War, and former black slaves. 

 

With the election of president Abraham Lincoln, in 1860, the Republican Party largely dominated the national political scene until 1932. The party has undergone many ideological shifts since it fought to protect the rights of African Americans, leading to the passage of the Civil Rights Acts and the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments.

Major Republican Accomplishments

  • ECONOMIC GROWTH: Republicans have historically supported policies aimed at stimulating economic growth, such as tax reform, deregulation, and free-market principles.

  • NATIONAL SECURITY:  The GOP has consistently prioritized a strong national defense, including military funding and the creation of new defense branches like the Space Force.

  • JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS:  The party has reshaped the federal judiciary by appointing numerous judges, including Supreme Court Justices, who are expected to have long-lasting impacts on American law

  • HEALTHCARE AND RESEARCH:  Republicans have led efforts to invest in medical research, addressing illnesses like Alzheimer’s and childhood cancer, and tackling issues such as opioid addiction.

  • TRADE AGREEMENTS:  The GOP has been instrumental in negotiating and passing trade agreements, such as the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, aimed at leveling the playing field for American workers and businesses.

  • VETRAN'S BEENFITS  The party has worked to improve the benefits for military veterans and their families, including securing pensions and healthcare benefits.

  • TAX RELIEF:  Republicans have provided tax relief by extending various tax provisions affecting individuals and businesses.

  • RETIREMENT SECURITY: The GOP has passed legislation to improve retirement security for Americans, making it easier for employers to sponsor retirement plans and for employees to save for their future.
